You must confirm that the candidate is legally allowed to work in the UK. Proper checks prevent illegal working and protect the company.
You must:
- Check original documents or digital status
- Use share codes if required
- Check expiry dates
- Keep evidence securely
You must not:
- Assume based on nationality
- Discriminate
- Ignore visa restrictions
