The Gold Standard Incident Report
An incident report is an official record that may be used in investigations, legal proceedings, or internal reviews. It must be clear, accurate, and professional.
Key Principles
- Facts, Not Opinions: "The male pushed my chest" ✔️ "The male was aggressive" ❌
- Chronological Order: Write events in the exact order they happened
- Clear Details: Include date, time, location, and persons involved
- Witness Information: Record names and contact details where possible
- Preserve Evidence: Ensure CCTV and other evidence is secured immediately
Remember: If it’s not written clearly and factually, it may not be accepted as reliable evidence.
